Book 1 in the Lakeside series

Dillion couldn’t wait to get out of her small town, Pearl Lake, and move to Chicago. Everything goes well for a few years until she loses her job, her boyfriend and her apartment. When her father calls asking her to come home to help out with the family business, she agrees.

Van and Grammy Bee had a special bond, so he was obviously devastated when she passes away. She has left her cottage to him and he takes some vacation time to see what state it’s in. There’s a scandal going on back home with his family, so he ends up staying in town longer than planned to fix the place up.

Dillion lives right next door and, also, happens to be the executor of Bee’s estate. There are a few misunderstandings along the way, but once Dillion and Van get over their issues they were super cute together. Grammy Bee was quite the sneaky one.

This was a quick, slowburn~ish, small town, enemies to lovers read.

I am a big fan of this author and I loved the references to other characters from her other books.
Teagan and Aaron were great side characters, so I look forward to reading their story in the next book in the series

Book blurb:

When Dillion Stitch left her hometown, she had no intention of going back. But when her brother gets into trouble, Dillion reluctantly agrees to return home to take her place at the family business.

Being back in Pearl Lake after all these years feels familiar, but also brings a few surprises. Sheā€™s quick to notice that someone new has shown up at the cottage next door. Dillion gets more than an eyeful when she goes to check out the newcomer and meets Donovan ā€œVanā€ Firestoneā€”her beloved neighborā€™s grandsonā€”in all his unclothed glory.

Having gotten off to a rocky start, itā€™s not long before they begin bickering with each other all over town. All that back and forth inevitably sparks an undeniable attraction. But Dillionā€™s family has issues, Vanā€™s family resents him, and neither Dillion nor Van feels truly at ease in the small town. For these Pearl Lake exiles, home isnā€™t just where the heart isā€”itā€™s where things get complicated.
