Holden & Julep
What happens when someone tells you that something or someone is off-limits? Duh, it makes you want it all that much more. Holden is the quarterback and Julep is studying sports medicine. When Holden gets injured Julep is assigned to help him get back out on the field. (Great job, Coach, pushing them into forced proximity, so really he should blame himself.)
Each have a sad and emotional past and their similar stories bring them together to form a bond. Your heart breaks for both of them. You can’t help but love Holden and how he found solace in gardening. He seemed very mature for his age. Julep found her solace in pole dancing. She, on the other hand, lacked maturity at times. It’s slow burn, but you just know that action is a coming with how they interact with each other and there’s a good amount of steamage.
I can, a little bit, see Coach’s rule for off-limits, but I, also, don’t like when parents feel like they can tell their adult children what to do.
This is my first time reading Kandi’s work and I hate that I started on book 3, but it seems like I probably didn’t miss out on anything from the previous books. I like the 2nd epilogue that sets up the next book in the series.
