My review:

When Emily is on the computer one day she happens across the search history. A search history that’s very concerning. But is it?

How to kill your wife and get away with it
How to bury a body with lye
How to collect life insurance after death
Can you collect life insurance if your spouse was murdered?
Can you collect life insurance if you’re a suspect in murder?

Her husband is a psychological thriller writer after all, so these are legitimate searches for research. Right?

We, also, have journal entries tied into the story that help paint the picture of their marriage. But that’s only one side of the story, which makes it hard to know who really to trust.

We’re introduced to Clara after Emily catches Stephen with her at a coffee shop one day. Not hard to figure out where this is going.

Overall, this was a pretty standard domestic fiction. It was alright, a bit repetitive and I can’t say I was really wowed, but I did enjoy the ending.

Narration notes:
This really would have benefited from 2 narrators since both POV’s are female and in the 1st. She did okay, but really didn’t even try to differentiate her voice.

Side note ~ I’m pretty sure it was mentioned that he spells his name as Steven because there was a reference to Stephen King and how he spells it differently with a V, so wondering why the blurb has ph? Unless I have no clue what I’m talking about. I think I’m going to have to try and go back and confirm this. Problem is I have no clue what chapter it was.

Update on my side note ~ I went back and listened to figure it out ~ MMC’s name is Steven, but he uses the pen name Stephen because he loves King.

Add to your never ending TBR  ~ goodreads

I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve read it.

Book blurb:

How to kill your wife and get away with it.

Emily thought marrying bestselling author Stephen Dyer was her fairy tale ending, until she sees his search history.

Stephen insists it’s research for his next psychological thriller story. She wants to believe him. But he knows her routine, her fears and her weaknesses. What if she’s not his wife anymore—just a character he’s planning to kill off?

As her paranoia spirals, Emily uncovers a truth far darker than any fiction.

In this marriage, the most dangerous plot twist is the one you never see coming.
