Elle (28) & Oliver (30) meet when she’s sleeping outside his apartment door because she can’t stand that he left his dog, Thor, alone all night long. She jumps to conclusions, giving us enemies vibes, assuming he’s out all night with some lady, when actually he’s a resident working 12 hour shifts at the hospital. A job that he was forced into by a controlling father.
Elle offers to watch Thor whenever Oliver has to work and they eventually become friends that enjoy each other’s company.
When we first met, he was the firmest, tightest closed book I’d ever met, but over time, I’ve been able to flip through his pages, appreciating every word they have to offer.
Typically I’m not a big fan of slow burns, but in this case I really liked that they got to know each other slowly. It’s the little things they noticed about each other that really made their relationship special.
Overall, I enjoyed it. The grand gesture was super cute, and I’m so glad Thor was included as it shouldn’t have been any other way since he’s a big part of the plot. My one qualm was something Oliver encouraged his best friend to do. It’s not a super big spoiler, but I’d rather not give anything away if I don’t have to.
Side note ~ although not a named series, Lucy from How to Write a Rom-Com is Elle’s best friend and has a good amount of page time. If you haven’t read it, like me, then you’ll get spoilers of how her life is going.
