ARC Review: Suspicious Love by Hope Cavendish

My review: 4ā

Amber has been Danny’s best friend and manager for years.
Caden owns nightclubs all around the UK, with the help of his best friend, Jasper, as his marketing and events manager.
They are looking for an opening act at the grand opening of one of the clubs. He reaches out to Danny who has been in the music scene for years, but is looking to re-brand himself. Caden’s offer is just what he needs to go from the young DanYo to the mature Danny O’Hare.

While this story is technically about the developing romance between Amber and Caden, Danny and Jasper are very heavily involved. Each of them have troubling pasts and yet they balance each other out wonderfully and I really enjoyed their friendships. They work so well together too. Julian was a nice addition to the story.

Overall, I liked this one. It’s a friends to lovers, slow burn, heavy on the assumptions and light on the communication, quick read. I really wish they would have communicated their feelings earlier on. I could have went for more of a faster burn because I really liked these two together. I felt it was really more based on the music and not much on the romance.

This is my first time with this author as this book was just translated from German. I’d be delighted to read the next book in the series following Jasper once it gets translated.

CW ~ child molestation (off page), suicide attempt (off page)

Book blurb: Release date ~ August 6, 2022

Actually, they arenā€™t a good match. Caden Lockwood is tall, dark, and handsome ā€“ the living trope of the typical womanizer. Heā€™s exactly the kind of man Amber Deering disapproves of due to bad experiences in her youth. Amber, on the other hand, is small, petite, and has an innocent allure. So sheā€™s exactly the type of woman Caden distrusts from the bottom of his heart.
But unfortunately, pop star Danny Oā€™Hara is then engaged to perform at Cadenā€™s nightclub. And since Amber is not only Dannyā€™s best friend but also his manager, she and Caden have to work together now.
Will their prejudices against each other come true?
Or will Amber and Caden be able to learn that wounds can heal and shadows of the past can be overcome?
