My review:

Ava & Chris are both spending the summer on the lovely island of Nixie. They have both just graduated high school and are spending time with family and friends before they’re off to college.

Avaā€™s mom, Lauren, used to summer on the island when she was younger, so sheā€™s excited to share her special place with her daughter before sheā€™s off to NYU. Absolutely loved their relationship. There was a hot minute when I didnā€™t like some things that were said, but overall it was inspiring. Lucy comes into Avaā€™s life with a burst of energy and sheā€™s a great bff to have in your corner.

Chris has just gotten out of a 3 year relationship so he decides to spend the summer with his grandparents, Gammy & Boppa, before he leaves for Boston University. They were the sweetest grandparents ever. Thereā€™s a bit of OW drama that had me fuming.

These kids are really made the most of their summer ~ beer pong, surfing and finding love. Thereā€™s sweetness until there isnā€™t, then is again, then isn’t for another quick minute, then is again.

Overall, this coming of age story is full of family, friends ~ old and new, partying, new relationships and enjoying your last summer before college. A solid debut that just might have a sequel.

Add to your never ending TBR  ~ goodreads

Iā€™d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve read it.

Book blurb:

Still reeling from her dad’s betrayal, Ava and her mother head to a small cottage on Nixie island to get away from gossipy neighbors back home. Ava’s last summer before college is quickly hijacked by a best friend she didn’t know she needed, back porch conversations with her mom–and a guy she doesn’t want to get involved with but can’t get out of her head.

In an effort to get over his ex, Chris finds himself on the island that defined his childhood. Though he distracts himself with parties, old friends, and future plans, he can’t stop thinking about the new girl who doesn’t want anything to do with him. And when his ex comes back into the picture, he has to make a decision–the familiar past, or a future that’s full of possibilities.
