My review: 4 ⭐
I do enjoy a story that reveals secrets after a person’s death and John’s secret is a doosey.
Cameron finds evidence that her husband, John, is apparently a serial killer known as The Teacher Killer. Once she tells the police and word gets out of her husbands crimes, she is being shunned and considered an accomplice. The media is relentless, she might not be able to sell her house for the $3.3 mil she needs and she loses all of her patients at her dental practice.
I, like the rest of the world, have to wonder how the wife did not know.
The prologue is about John’s death, then the first chapter skips ahead 3 months to Cameron’s discovery. I never really got the whole grieving widow vibe since we go right in to the nitty gritty of both the police and her own investigation.
She is convinced he is not really dead, so she embarks on The Final Hunt to Alaska in hopes of finding answers. Winter in Alaska was described so well that I felt like I was freezing my katookas off while they were ice fishing and tenting on a lake (do people really do that? no thank you.)
Tanner was a thorough detective and did a great job investigating. Dane was an alright cop too, his actions a bit far-fetched at the end though.
I found this to be a great thriller that kept me intrigued throughout with some good secrets and twists. Thinking back I am like duh, how did I not figure the big reveal out, as it’s pretty obvious. I don’t care for insta~love in my thrillers either.
A quick and easy listen at 7 hours and 13 minutes and 2x. Stacey Glemboski did a fantastic job keeping me engaged throughout the whole story.
This is my first time with this author and I’d be delighted to read or listen her work again and again.
