Blog tour ~ extract + a giveaway: Her Convenient Vow to the Billionaire by Jane Holland

I am delighted to share an extract with you today ~ thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for organizing.

check out what my fellow bloggers thought of this one ā¤µ

Rafael and Sabrina havenā€™t seen each other in five years. Not since one passionate night together in Paris, which theyā€™ve both struggled to forget. Now theyā€™ve arranged to meet at the Greek island orphanage where they grew up together, which self-made billionaire Rafael has bought and slated for demolition, so that Sabrina can try to persuade him not to destroy her beloved childhood sanctuary.

But when his helicopter lands, Sabrina realises she canā€™t face seeing him again. So she runs and hides in a broom cupboard! Sheā€™s forgotten that, despite their differences, Rafael is still the one person in the world who knows her best, and he soon works out her hiding place. Except Sabrina is stubborn and refuses to come outā€¦

When the other kids had picked on them, Rafael had always acted instinctively to divert attention from Sabrina, and had been found guilty of fights and breakages. ā€˜Like father, like son,ā€™ some of the wardens had sneered at him. Rafael had ignored that lie; he was nothing like his mean, vicious father. But when one older boy had spoken disrespectfully of his mother, mocking him over how sheā€™d died, he had lost control.

After that particular dust-up, the wardens had put him in solitary for a week.

Sabrina had come to visit him, sneaking extra food through the window.

Theyā€™d been inseparable as kids.

There had never been anything between them but friendship, of course.

Until that night in Paris…

ā€˜Go away, Rafe.ā€™

Her voice was a mere thread of sound.

He repeated his request more firmly, adding, ā€˜Parakalo…ā€™ his voice cracking on that final word, Please.

ā€˜No,ā€™ she whispered.

Her rejection hurt, exactly as it had done the day sheā€™d left him behind, smiling up at Andrew Templeton, her new father, as he steered her out of the orphanage and into the sunlight. Rafael had been happy for her all the same, knowing she was better off with a rich gamily, and had written her dozens of letters, hoping for news of her life in England.

No reply had ever come.

What a fool heā€™d made of himself over her. And for what? Sabrina had soon forgotten him, whisked away to a life of wealth and privilege.

ā€˜Donā€™t be such a little coward,ā€™ he said roughly, pushing the hurt aside. ā€˜You asked me

to meet you and here I am.ā€™ He lurched forward and, despite his claustrophobia, stretched his whole arm into the space, his hand rigid and wide-fingered, hunting about for her. ā€˜So you might as well stop hiding in the dark, obsessing over how hard your life has been. Because I can tell you now: mine has been harder.ā€™

ā€˜Oh!ā€™

There was outrage in that tiny explosion of sound, and then Sabrina came squeezing out of her hiding place on all fours, a flushed and indignant goddess with dishevelled blonde hair.

She clambered to her feet, knocking away his hand with violent disdain. They faced each other in the echoing hallway. Her breasts were heaving in a white dress that was wholly unsuitable for rustic Calista, its expensive clinging silk smudged with dust. Despite Paris, it was still a shock to see the cool oval of her face smooth and unmarked, no longer the scarred face heā€™d known and loved as a child. The plastic surgeons had done their work well.

ā€˜How dare you?ā€™ she ranted, standing almost eye to eye with him in stylish stilettos that emphasised her slender ankles and long legs.

Yes, Sabrina had grown up, all right.

ā€˜You of all people should know…ā€™

Then her voice died away as their eyes met.

From reunion to wearing his ring!

When Rafael offers to hand over the orphanage if Sabrina becomes his convenient bride, she scoffs! Sheā€™s still healing from the heartbreak of their last passionate encounter, and marrying him will test her every limit. But as long-buried secrets are unveiled Sabrina has no choice but to trust himā€¦
