Eve (27) & Foster (35) had a whirlwind romance that only lasted a few months. Now 5 years later he ends up in her ER and sheā€™s nursing him back to health in her tiny apartment.

I enjoyed the flashbacks which gave us an idea of what went wrong in their previous relationship. Having dual POV was a great choice, so we werenā€™t just hearing one side of the story. A bit of communication would have been nice because one of them has a secret that could end things before they fully get started again.

Overall, I liked the slow burn of them finding their way back to each other, but that burn was so slow that I was thinking theyā€™d never reconcile. Of course we know they will because “he’s still the one,” and yes that song was stuck in my head every time I picked up this book.

Narration notes:
I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference. However I am excited to see there are 2!

Book blurb:

Eve Cassidy thought Guy Foster was the only man she would ever love. Theirs was a whirlwind romance and marriage – until it all ended in tears…

Five years after their break-up, Eve still hasnā€™t found a reason to believe in true love. But when Foster has an accident and she discovers sheā€™s still listed as his next of kin, Eve knows she canā€™t let him wake up in hospital with no one by his side. After all, those devilishly blue eyes have always been hard to say no toā€¦

Foster isnā€™t sure if his poor battered brain is playing tricks on him when he sees the only woman heā€™s ever loved sitting next to his bedside. Maybe Eve never got over him like he never got over her? And when Eve agrees to him moving into her one-bedroom apartment to recover, itā€™s clear these exes have unfinished business.

Will weeks in close quarters be the making or breaking of this smouldering second chance love story? Up close and personal, old habits can be hard to break.
