Amaya and Kaavi were childhood best friends. They had a falling out and haven’t seen or spoken to each other in five years. Amaya is quite the stalker though and has been keeping tabs on Kaavi anonymously via social media. When she learns that Kaavi is to marry her ex-boyfriend, Spence, she’s upset. But she is upset enough to harm her just a day before the wedding?
It’s told mostly by Amaya leading up to the wedding. We have some transcripts of the police investigation that really show how the rumor mill can be and keeps you guessing about what happened to Kaavi. Then later on we get Kaavi’s perspective. I like how it was done this way because it kept me wondering what was going on. It took a while to find out why they haven’t spoken in five years though.
I’m not a fan of when money is wasted and it seems there was way too much spent on this wedding. A backup wedding dress?! craziness! But I did enjoy learning about Sri Lankan culture. And I’m sure gossiping Aunties are found all over the world, not just there.
Overall, a good drama filled read that was suspenseful and twisty with a perfect wrap up.

Book blurb:
From the author of My Sweet Girl comes a dangerously addictive new thriller about a lavish Sri Lankan wedding celebration that not everyone will survive.
When Amaya is invited to Kaaviās over-the-top wedding in Sri Lanka, she is surprised and a little hurt to hear from her former best friend after so many years of radio silence. But when Amaya learns that the groom is her very own ex-boyfriend, she is consumed by a single thought: She must stop the wedding from happening, no matter the cost.
But as the weeklong wedding celebrations begin and rumors about Amayaās past begin to swirl, she canāt help but feel like she also has a target on her back. When Kaavi goes missing and is presumed dead, all evidence points to Amaya.
However, nothing is as it seems as Jayatissa expertly unravels that each wedding guest has their own dark secret and agenda, and Amaya may not be the only one with a plan to keep the bride from getting her happily ever afterā¦

I have been tempted by this one ever since I saw that it was a BOTM pick. It sounds like a solid read.
