ARC Review: 214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion

My review: 3 solid ā

The blurb doesn’t really give you much to go on. You would think Maggie plays a big part in the book, but we hear about her like twice, so that was odd.

There’s a bunch to follow along with ~ a now and then timeline, “Her” and just about every character tells a bit of the story. There were a couple different mysteries going on too.
I did have the “Her” figured out before it came to light. Also, I called what happened with Jeremy pretty quickly. Didn’t really care for the why of the who in the whodunit with the rock at all.

Childhood friends ~ Kirk, Gavin and Clarice were all unlikable characters. Phil seemed like a nice fella and Judy was a great MIL.

My heartbeat did begin to pick up a little around the 70% mark, but then slowed back down and the remainder of the book sort of dragged and I was ready for it be wrapped up. I was pleased with how it ended right before the epilogue.

It was a quick, but slow going at times, read. I would give this author another try.

*Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Karen McQuestion for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

Book blurb: Release date ~ April 6, 2022

A house with a secret. A woman with nothing to lose.

When Maggie sees the beautiful Venetian blinds moving in the Caldwellsā€™ front window, she freezes. Her favorite neighbours Cady and Josh are away, so who is in their house?

The pretty young woman who answers the door tells a convincing story. Sheā€™s Sarah. The house-sitter. Just here for a month. An old friend of Cadyā€™s who needed a place to stay. Sheā€™s pleasant and warm, and Maggie wanders back to her house thinking she might have made a new friend. Yet she canā€™t help but wonder why Cady never mentioned Sarah.

What Maggie doesnā€™t know is that on the other side of the door, Sarah is starting to panic. No one was meant to see her at 214 Palmer Streetā€¦

An unputdownable psychological thriller from number one bestseller Karen McQuestion, which will make you question what secrets your own neighbors are hidingā€¦ For fans of The Girl on the Train, The Woman in the Window and Gone Girl.

I'd love to hear your thoughts
