My review:
Josie & Dorian first meet when they’re stuck in an elevator together for 10 hours. Yikes, sounds very uncomfortable. They get to know each other very well and form an instant connection in such a short amount of time, but the problem is that he’s married so nothing can ever happen between them. They go their separate ways and then we flash forward a year and now they’re working side by side.
Even though this gives the insta~love vibe it was a super slow burn due to her working for him and it being forbidden. I can usually give or take slow burns, but I didn’t hate it for them because I felt like they really got to know each other in an organic way even with the yearning and tension. Don’t worry, he’s no longer married and thank goodness for that because they were not good together. But alas they cannot deny their attraction…
Love isn’t about guarantees or safe choices. It’s about taking a leap of faith, even when the landing is uncertain. And maybe the heart really knows best.
and you can probably guess what happens when something is deemed forbidden.
I really liked Josie’s commitment to her sister, Lily, and niece, Penny, and I’m thrilled for a sequel for the happily ever after they deserve.
Overall, I thought it was adorable with top notch sassy banter. Most characters were fabulous, except for a couple. He was the sweetest rockstar I’ve ever read, and I’ve read like 2 😂, and he gave us some swoony moments. He does sing quite a bit, which is understandable, but I’m not sure I could handle someone singing to me all the time, I’d probably bust our laughing. Lastly, can I get a hallelujah for proper communicating adults?!
Narration notes:
I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the above info for reference. I am thrilled to see 2 narrators, though!
Add to your never ending TBR ~ goodreads
I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve read it.
Book blurb:
She was supposed to fix his image—not fall for the man behind the fame.
When Josie gets trapped overnight in an elevator with Rian Phoenix—global rock legend—she figures it’ll be a funny story to tell, not a plot twist with heartache written all over it. Only, the real Rian isn’t the bad boy the headlines describe. He is witty, kind, and unexpectedly swoon-worthy. By morning, they’ve shared snacks, secrets, and sparked a dangerously real connection. Then the elevator doors open. Reality crashes in, and Josie becomes a stranger he’s not supposed to remember. She walks away with a bruised heart and a vow to steer clear of rockstars forever.
A year later, Josie’s steady again—until she’s reassigned as Rian’s PR manager. Back in his orbit, she must keep things professional to protect her job—and avoid falling for him all over again. But Rian hasn’t forgotten her. Too bad picking up where they left off could cost her everything. With the world watching, Josie has to decide whether to guard her heart and her career… or press play on a love story that finally hits all the right notes.
Rock My World is a heartfelt, light-hearted romantic comedy perfect for fans of When in Rome by Sarah Adams and The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez.
