Extract:

Where we are introduced to our heroine and actress, Sabrina Swift who has just been jilted at the alter and has decided to come to her honeymoon cottage alone

Sabrina Swift yanked the The Newlyweds label off the welcome pack, cast it to the floor and twisted at it viciously with the heel of her Louis Vuitton boot as if stubbing out a cigarette. As the lights in the old Cornish cottage flickered wildly, the brunette looked up at the ceiling with a pained expression. ā€˜Donā€™t you flipping dare go off. Not now itā€™s dark. Please, no!ā€™

Arm held aloft and waving her phone around in the air, she made her way to the bathroom and stood shakily on the toilet seat. With her right hand almost touching the bathroom skylight, the familiar dialing tone gave way to the even more familiar Essex twang of her oldest friend and confidante, Delilah Dickinson. Sabrina breathed out a huge sigh of relief.

ā€˜Dee, thank God! The signal here is SO shite.ā€™

A careworn voice greeted her relieved one. ā€˜Rini, you do realise itā€™s midnight, donā€™t you?ā€™

But Sabrina hadnā€™t called to listen. ā€˜I told him The Scarlet might be a better option, but no, he had to go all Bear bloody Grylls on me and book off grid.ā€™

ā€˜Darling, wait until itā€™s light. Youā€™ve had a long drive. And from the photos you showed me before you went, it looks like a stunning location.ā€™ Dee was whispering now. ā€˜Give me a sec, I donā€™t want to wake Stu.ā€™

As Dee crept out of her cosy bed and on to the landing, Sabrinaā€™s sorrowful diatribe was unrelenting. ā€˜Itā€™s a bungalow. I mean, what even is a bungalow? And Iā€™m stood in the smallest bathroom in history, on an effing toilet seat, reaching up as far as I can for signal, in the middle of effing nowhere. There is no coffee machine. No full-length mirror. And the TV isnā€™t even a smart one.ā€™ Sabrina let out an exaggerated breath. ā€˜I could be raped, pillaged, or worse still, murdered, and nobody would even know.ā€™

Dee yawned. ā€˜Anyone would think you were an actress, the way youā€™re going on.ā€™

ā€˜Ha bloody ha.ā€™

ā€˜I hate to say it, Rini, but it was you who made the final decision to escape to the depths of Cornwall, for thisā€¦thisā€¦ noneymoon. And to be frank, the mood youā€™re in, I think even the most determined of intruders would run a mile.ā€™

ā€˜Noneymoon? Youā€™re such a smart arse!ā€™

ā€˜Well, that makes up for the TV then.ā€™

Sabrina managed to laugh.

ā€˜Get some sleep, sweetheart,ā€™ Dee soothed. ā€˜And in the morning, Iā€™m sure youā€™ll feel and think differently.ā€™

ā€˜You reckon?ā€™

ā€˜I know.ā€™

ā€˜I love you, Dee.ā€™

ā€˜I love you, too, mate.ā€™

ā€˜It will be OK, wonā€™t it?ā€™

ā€˜Your life, or not having a full-length mirror?ā€™

ā€˜I hate you.ā€™ Sabrina shook her arm to relieve the numbness.

ā€˜Make your mind up.ā€™ Dee chuckled. ā€˜And if youā€™re still alive in the morning, call me.ā€™

Book blurb:

And as rumours start circling that the outside market is going to be shut down, Sabrina is not only ensconced in an unexpected love triangle but is also faced with a difficult decision that could alter both her life and those of the inhabitants of Hartmouth forever.
