My review: 3.5⭐for this debut
Jake Larson is considered the King of his university hockey team. He’s definitely not hurting for female attention, but he can’t seem to stay away from Leia.
Leia is just 16 years old when she first meets Jake. They are drawn to each other, but age stands in the way. She’s excited to begin college, but she’s clearly inexperienced and naive.
I love that it’s written in both of their pov’s as it really shows the pull they feel towards each other, but man they were awfully maddening at times. Back and forth, up and down and all around the world to Slovakia. I really wanted them to get their act together.
This was a slow burn, college story that ends on a cliffhanger. Although Jake is a hockey player there isn’t much actual hockey playing going on, so I am not sure I can categorize this as a sports romance.
I appreciated the authors note at the end. I had a feeling throughout the whole book that some of the story might have been based on the authors experience. Also, had a feeling she was in her late teens/early 20’s and I applaud young writers to go after their dream. I think I’ve seen the words babe and dude enough to last me the next 8 books though.
Side bar ~ hello to the hottie on the cover.

Book blurb: Release date ~ July 12, 2022
One hot summer, he met the girl he couldn’t stop thinking about.
But by God, she was only sixteen…
Jake Larson is the team captain of Rubenstein University’s hockey team and the son of NHL Hall of Fame, Dan Larson. Coined as King Larson his sophomore year, he’s a known womanizer and hockey hotshot on campus. When he meets sixteen-year-old track athlete Leia one summer at the beach, her beauty, brains, and spunky personality immediately she knocks him off his feet. Before he knows it, she and the track girls disappear after summer ends, and it’s a loss he hasn’t felt since the death of his mom.
Enters Leia again, next summer, attending Rubenstein as a freshman. What he thought would be an easy pursuit turns into a challenge harder than winning a hockey championship
